Excellent experience, from start to finish. I had the pleasure of working with April Richmond. She went above and beyond, getting me the best possible rate, while working on a short deadline (quick close.) I used the VA loan, which requires certain prerequisites. She helped me navigate those in record time. It was 7 days from when I locked in my rate to final loan approval. Needless to say, I will definitely be going back to April and NBKC for future home purchases.

I would recommend Matt Hering (my mortgage loan officer) to my friends and family, and will strongly consider using him again when I refinance my mortgage.Matt communicated frequently and professionally with me throughout the process, and was very responsive via email and text, including on weekends. I always knew where my application was in the process. All NBKC's lending disclosures were very transparent and understandable. My situation was very vanilla, so I cannot speak to their ability to handle more tricky financing or purchasing situations. I bought a townhome in Maryland with 20% down, well within my budget, though opted for a higher rate and a lender credit, as I plan to refinance in 1-2 years when rates are expected to drop. NBKC's interest rates and overall costs for those rates was very competitive vs. other major national mortgage banks I considered. Matt also helped me lock in a lower rate a couple weeks before closing when rates significantly dropped.NBKC's lending process was efficient and relatively easy, though I had some hiccups with some investment accounts not linking via NBKC's automated asset verification tool. The loan team was easily able to process my loan in under 30 days, before I even needed it to close.
