"Disappointed"

I always buy books in "very good" condition but this time one of the "Hello Kitty" books which has a special pen which removes the pen writing doesn't work at all. The whole point of this book is the special pen so it is useless. The other books in the order are ok.

"Good value"

Good value and speedy delivery service. I would have given it 5 stars if some of the jewel/CD cases had not been cracked in transit. But all CDs play and are in great condition overall.

"I didn't realise that the road atlas of."

I didn't realise that the road atlas of Ireland which I was buying was 20 years old, so printed before most of the new Irish motorways were built. It has limited its usefulness!

"Book received was not the one ordered"

Sadly, one of the books was completely different to the one I ordered. Haven't had time to deal with it yet.

"Found the whole series of historical novels"

I wanted to complete a series of historical novels I had just started. WOB listed all the books I wanted in stock and sent them quickly, drawing them from two sources. Books arrived in good shape and condition was as listed. Only slight glitch, they (logically) sent me Book 1, which in fact I hadn't ordered. This meant I was missing book 6 of 9 but I will order it separately.

"Damaged Books, and Bad Customer Service"

Very Bad Customer Service. I wanted to return a book and it told me to submit a form/talk to some bot called Watson. Did Both but no reply since 2 Weeks. Books arrived damaged and pages were ripped, even though the condition of the books I bought were " Very Good ".

"Increasingly frustrating experience, but delivered safely and securely"

I have been using WOB consistently for the last year or two now, and really enjoy good value price points on second hand books that can be difficult to purchase elsewhere. WOB is a service that, in principle, I cherish a lot.I ordered 8 books which were all safely and securely delivered (unlike the most recent experience where heavy books were packed in plastic, inevitably ripped through and lost 1 in transit). For positives, some items in my very latest order were purchased as 'good' quality and were actually very good quality (one of the big upsides to WOB's service). This is not uncommon at all and is part of the value in ordering from this website. Some items were listed as very good quality and were what I would consider to be poor quality (ripped covers, pen scribbled inside and dirty). I do think WOB could have done a better job wiping significant dirt and grime off of some dust covers for a more pleasant experience, especially when advertised as very good quality. I consider this negative aspect to be somewhat balanced by the relatively common delivery of books higher in quality than expected. Here is where I am beginning to become irritated with WOB.A book in my latest order was explicitly purchased due to the illustrations by a particular artist, and this was indicated with the photo used by WOB of the advertised book's spine stating who illustand who the publisher was. There were no other details listed (as is normal for many second hand books on this website).I am used to sometimes receiving different editions of the same published book. However, this time I received a book with the same title but was from an entirely different publisher and illustrator, as well as the contents itself. It took some time for me to figure out why this happened, but WOB used an entirely different photo to the book that was advertised and only used it because it was the same title. I confirmed this by back-checking the ISBN of the incorrect book which came up with an entirely different book on an ISBN checker's website. The incorrect photo on the ISBN website was the exact same type to the one advertised on WOB's website, suggesting a severe lack of due diligence with the way these books are being advertised. It took some communication to explain this problem to WOB, and customer service offered for me to return the book for a refund, but I would have to pay for the postage myself. Through more communication, they agreed to refund me the cost of the book without my needing to pay for returning a falsely advertised item, presumably because the cost of them paying for postage was not worth the value of the book purchased.I have used WOB perhaps 5 times, but the issues with my last 2 (most recent) orders has led me to feeling like it is more beneficial (and cheaper) to wait for specific books to come up at charity stores. This is a very regretful review to type (and my first ever review of any service) but wish to write honestly in the hopes that a quality and careful service returns.
