Mark was so excellent throughout the entire mortgage process! I was a first-time homebuyer, and I was skeptical about using an online lender, but I am so glad we did. NBKC gave us a rate that was so much better than any other lender we applied with, especially the local lender, so I felt like we had to at least try it out. From the very beginning, Mark was able to answer any of the questions I had, he was communicative with my realtor, and he was so incredibly responsive that I don't see how my customer service could possibly have been better with a local lender. It turns out that you really don't need to see a lender face-to-face to complete a transaction, which really isn't very surprising at all when you think about it. Mark was very straightforward about everything and didn't try to hide any of the details up front to make his offer more attractive. He gave me the rate directly and disclosed how many points it included. Closing costs were around what I expected, maybe even a little lower. I can't recommend Mark enough. As a bonus, he is just a really nice guy, and I was even able to text him instead if I needed instead of relying on email the entire time. In conclusion, if you were skeptical about using an online lender like me, then 1) It wouldn't surprise me if a realtor or someone else in the business put this idea in your head, since a lot of local realtors and lenders tend to work together, so they naturally have some prejudices against online lenders. 2) Whatever you were hoping to get out of a local lender, I am sure that Mark can provide for you and at a much better price.
