"Charged for minor amendment"

A couple of days after booking our next trip to Calais from Dover had to amend the car details - same make and model but different reg number. Charged P10 for the pleasure - still 2 weeks to go before we sail so just money making by the ferry company

Arrived early both leaving UK and returning. The ferry operator managed to get me on an earlier sailing on both occasions. The lunchtime menu was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Excellent quality. On board facilities such as toilets were spotless.

We did not like that passengers were alowed to smoke every where on the deck.

Boat, entertainment and all the things are as expected, been doing this stint for over 25 year. However my last two experiences 2023/ 2024 have been shattered with the explorer kitchen buffet. Vegan options are there, but plain. With the world shifting into gear to eat less animal products DFDS need to step it up. Salads look delicious, but covered in cheese! Only warm option is curry, curry and more curry. One desert option also. Walking back to you table with some potatoes, olives, chips, plain peas and tomatoes.However everything is labelled exactly with what's in it. The buffet is excellent, but needs more imagination not just for vegans, but for people with intolerances

"Best ferry for northern folk"

This is the best ferry ever for those of us who live in Northern England or Scotland. Overnight to Amsterdam and away you go. No awful drive to or from the south coast of England.

2020 I went with DFDS from IJmuiden to Newcastle. It was the last week of december first week january, holidays! Car, seaview bunkbeds, breakfast, dinner, return fare for 4 persons was 732,40 euro.3 yrs and some months later, I recently wanted to book exactly the same trip for the month of May. It will cost over 1800,- euro........why??!

We traveled on 17th March, Newhaven to Dieppe on the 7am crossing. We only travel this route with DFDS as we find their service to be first class and we feel they offer a more personalised service compared to other carriers. Staff are always very polite and helpful. The upgraded ferries have larger Duty Free shops and comfortable seating. We had a sea view cabin so we could have a sleep before driving through France which was comfortable offering a bit of your own space. Breakfast was lovely, a welcome meal before a long car drive. All in all another excellent crossing from DFDS.
