"Poor customer service"
I ordered a bathroom suite from Victoria Plum which arrived on time and for what I can see in good order but there was a piece missing. I wasn't able to check the order immediately so didn't notice this until I actually laid everything out in a fixing mock up a few days later. I made a mental note to contact their customer service. I subsequently received an email about a week after the delivery advising me I had 3 days to check my order so did so immediately and phoned customer services next morning. In a holding queue for 45 minutes before speaking to an adviser who told me she would get onto the courier who would call me same day. Nothing happened so I rang again next morning another long wait and this time I was told it would need to be looked at by engineering.. Why? it was not an engineering problem it was a failure to deliver the part. I was told this could take a week to get a reply. A week passed and nothing. So I rang again, another long wait only to be told that because I had not checked the order within the 3 day time slot there was nothing they could do and I would need to purchase the missing part again. As this was not an acceptable solution I stuck to my guns and insisted that I should not have to pay for the item because it was their mistake. Also the fact was that the missing item was part of a 'complete kit' and as the kit had not been itemised in the delivery invoice it would not have been possible for me to check it against anything. It was only the fact that I did the mock up that revealed the missing item. I had a heated discussion with their operator who kept quoting the to "company policy" line as if to imply that my oversight was the problem while failing to acknowledge that the original error in their warehouse despatch. The customer service adviser informed me they would pass it to management. To her credit she did this and I did subsequently receive a prompt response from her informing me that "as a goodwill gesture" they would send me the missing part. I do not see it as goodwill but more as rectifying their original mistake. I do not give star ratings for items delivered on time or in good condition as that is my minimum expectation. I base reviews on customer service when things don't go as expected and sadly Victoria Plum were weighed, measured and found sadly wanting. I gave 1 star because they eventually sent me the missing part. If they had done this on the first phone call rather than fob me off it could have been 4 or 5 stars, but they missed their opportunity. The whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth so in future I will find and alternative source for bathroom fixtures and fittings. I cannot recommend this company.

Please note that VictoriaPlum is not the same as Victoria Plumbing. They charge $60 for returns, which is extortionate. I explained to them that I was confused about the fact they weren't Victoria Plumbing with UK locations to take returns back to, but the charge still stood.
