"BE SMART DON'T BOOK BENS GUTTERS"

I had booked Bens Gutters for a Gutter Clean and arranged for a convenient time due to my partner's night shift schedule. Despite my efforts to coordinate suitable dates, they consistently sent text messages scheduling calls during the middle of the day, which was inconvenient for us. After expressing my concerns via text, James called me and agreed to carry out the work on Monday, 26th February 2024. To my dismay, I received a text on Friday evening, 23rd February 2024, stating they would be at my property on Monday between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Frustrated by this sudden change, I promptly cancelled the appointment and requested a refund since payment was made upfront. This refund was arranged on Thursday, 29th February 2024, with the payment scheduled to be deposited into my account on Monday, 4th March 2024.However, to my surprise, I received a call from Yevhen Shuba on 4th March 2024, questioning why I had made two payments. I clarified that I hadn't made two payments; rather, they had issued the refund with incorrect details, causing it to bounce back to them. I insisted that they initiate the refund today via a CHAPS payment. Unfortunately, I have just received an email (as I'm sure they were too apprehensive to call) stating that the refund will now be in my account on Wednesday, 6th March 2024. Despite having held onto my money for over a month, they seem unwilling to incur the small cost of a CHAPS payment, which would expedite the process. Given the tight financial situation, I needed that money today, not Wednesday.Upon contacting them, I received minimal assistance and hardly an apology. This experience has left me deeply dissatisfied, prompting me to share this warning with others.

"Samuel went the extra mile"

Samuel went the extra mile literally since he drove across from the east coast of Scotland to us on the west coast! He cleared all the gutters and downpipes and showed us "after" photographs. We had a discussion about a couple of weaknesses in the gutters which, with his background in construction, was most helpful. Fully recommended.

"A pushy company who can't get the hint."

A pushy company who suggest they're local, but they're a huge nationwide company instead. They apparently use local people, but I'd suggest you find a smaller local business and give them your money directly. They gave me an extortionate quote that was double what I was given elsewhere, and they wanted me to pay upfront (and i felt quite pressured by this). When I realised I was being ripped off and cancelled the appt, I've since received more texts suggesting I'm still booked in. Disgusting behaviour that's potentially happening with elderly and vulnerable customers. Avoid at all costs.

"Disappointing customer service"

A detailed quote was provided for the works (pound247) and I agreed for the works to be carried out on my 3 bedroom semi detached property. I requested any Friday in March for the works and then received an email saying they would be out the following Tuesday. Twice I had to contact them to rearrange it for a Friday date and the guy still turned up on the Tuesday to do the work. He failed to clean a section of the guttering due to him being unwilling to go onto an extension roof. A measly discount of pound10 was offered, subsequently raised to a measly pound20. No offer was made for a further visit to rectify. The actual works carried out were very good and the guy cleaned up after he was finished. Unfortunately the service received beforehand and after means I will be going elsewhere in the future.

Would definitely recommend this company as they keep your updated with texts and emails with your date and times of your appointment. Great service. Very pleased with the service. Gutters were in need of a clean. After the gutters were cleaned he explained what he found (they were blocked with three clumps of grass), which was useful. Would recommend.

Alex came today to clean my gutters. I wasn't in, as at work, but left side gate open. From what I can see he did a good job, and tidied up too.
